Advanced Search

• Enter a word or short phrase from your assignment topic. Example: falls
• Consider using terms suggested by the database: falls and fall prevention instead of falls
• Check the Limit To boxes for Full Text and Peer Reviewed
• Publication Date: use After This Date to get just the last 5 years
• Use an Age Group option if appropriate, such as Aged (65+ years)
• Consider checkboxes for Language = English and Document type = article
• Check these settings each time you revise the search

Results

View the Abstract to see if article is interesting and appropriate

Cite, Download, Save, Email

• Do at least two!
• Do Not Bookmark!
• Cite and copy into your Cited References List. Choose the APA format option.
• View a PDF and Save to Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive
• Email, etc.

Search

• Enter words or short phrases from your assignment topic. Example: diabetes mellitus type 2
• Use terms suggested by the database as appropriate: elderly or aged or elder
• Use AND, OR as needed
• Check the Peer Reviewed and Full Text options
• Choose Dates to limit to the last 5 years

Results

• Example results: CINAHL results for Diabetes Type 2 and Elderly
• View the title and abstract to see if the article may be interesting and appropriate

Cite, Print, Email, Save

• Do at least two!
• Do NOT bookmark
• Open the PDF to view the article
• Use the Tools menu to Cite, Save, Email, etc.
• Choose AAPA Format for the Citation

Find Peer-reviewed full-text articles from CINAHL Complete (EBSCO) and Nursing and Allied Health Database (ProQuest) and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences (EBSCO)

Use of recent articles (within 5 years) is required for most assignments

• Use the filter for Publication Year
• Choose the Last 5 Years option

Note that the EBSCO CINAHL Complete and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences results are available by the "Relevant matches exist in additional databases" at the bottom of the Filters options
