Why Use Discovery Search to Find Articles?

Save time by finding articles from more than one database, This search offers reliable article content for your assignments.

  • Find magazine articles - usually written for a more general audience on popular topics
  • Find scholarly or peer-reviewed articles - written by experts for others in their discipline or field of study and provide cutting edge research (at time of publication) on very specific topics
  • Find news or newspaper articles -- for current (at the time of publication) information and perspectives on events and issues

How to Find Articles

  • Enter search terms in the main search box. For example:   invasive species
  • From the search results, use the Format menu on the left (or under Group & Refine This Search on smaller screens) to choose Article
  • To be sure you can read all of each article, use the Content Type menu on the left (or under Group & Refine This Search on smaller screens) to choose Full Text
  • Use Last 5 Years under the Publication Year menu to get recent articles
  • Read the article Summary to see if the article is suitable for your assignment or topic
  • Use the Save button to save that result to a list
  • Use the Access Online button. If there is more than one database option shown, choose any to get the article.

  • Use the Cite and at least one of the Email, Save, or Print menu options for the article -- details vary by which database the article is from. Do NOT bookmark the article - the bookmark will not work later
