Evaluating Sources

When evaluating a web source use the CRAAP Test to check the objective reliability of the information.

  • Currency: 
    • When was the information published?
      Has it been revised or updated?
      Is this out of date?
  • Relevance:
    • Does this information relate to your topic?
    • Who is the intended audience?
    • Is this information at a college level? 
  • Authority: 
    • Who is the author and publisher? 
    • What are the author's credentials, organization affiliations or qualifications? 
  • Accuracy: 
    • Is the information supported by evidence? 
    • Has the information been reviewed?
    • Does the language include bias? 
  • Purpose:
    • ​​​​​​​What is the purpose of this information? 
    • Does the point of view seem objective?
    • Does the information include opinions?
